WELCOME TO INSPIRE MOVEMENT

MY STORY

I started dancing in high school because I was a chubby kid and was very insecure with myself. I remember seeing this dance performance and straight away I knew it was something I wanted to try out. ​

 

Long story short, for the first few years I was really not getting it, and my teachers at the time thought the same so I stopped dancing for a few years. Later down the road, I had no choice but to attend University as that was the only thing my mum wanted me to do. Through University, I realized everyone in life has a purpose, and dance was something I really wanted to pursue, so I decided to leave University and follow my dream. ​​

Since then I have traveled to many countries to learn, teach and experience different aspects of dance. I have judged a few dance competitions like Hip Hop International (HHI), and have worked with several brands such as Lane Crawford, Culture Kings, Pull & Bear, and more. ​

Dance has allowed me to express freely, build genuine connections with people, and made me confident with who I am. ​​ I hope to help you do the same! Whether that is to simply lose some weight and get fit, to help you express in a way that you have never done before, or to gain confidence like I did.

MY STUDIO

I was lucky enough to have started my own dance studio last year. We have reached over 800 students with the help of some amazing teachers alongside.

 

Unfortunately, no one expected the pandemic of COVID-19 so we had to shut down temporarily due to lockdown restrictions.

 

So I decided to move my classes online! To share with the world and with YOU no matter where you live!

COMMON PROBLEMS WITH ONLINE TUTORIALS

  • It's hard to find the motivation to learn from online

  • There is no personal feedback, I don't know if I'm doing right or wrong

  • The lessons are too long I don't have the attention span to finish

  • Teachers teach too fast, I can't do it with the music

  • It's not fun, there's no real people to dance with

I HAVE THE SOLUTION FOR YOU!

Each class will be broken up into smaller lessons to give you the option for breaktimes in between, without feeling like you haven't achieved anything as there will be a progress bar to give you the motivation to push through.

There will be three music speeds for harder routines to help you build up confidence to execute the dance.

Making the choice to take that first class to show up was really daunting and terrifying, but i knew i always loved moving to music and needed to discover more about myself by trying new things. Jeff really understands how to break down moves into bite-size pieces and relates them to real-life movements we do every day which helped immensely in picking up and learning choreography as a beginner.

I have been learning from Jeff since early 2020, and his classes have provided a space for me to explore my creativity and just have fun. Jeff is a thoughtful teacher who openly shares his love for dance to his students and who constantly encourages them to strive for their personal best. I've noticed that I have not only improved my dance skills, but I have also seen improvement in the way I express myself through dance and an increase in confidence to perform in front of others. Thanks for being an awesome teacher, Jeff!

Here it goes: Having failed at taking up dancing a few times over the years, I was finally inspired by Jeff to become consistent and pursue this hobby further. The passion he has for teaching and dancing is so contagious and inspiring that it even positively areas in life outside of dance.

Growing up I had discovered a love for dance. I had even tried out for a crew at 14 years old. But due to not making the cut. It set me back for almost 11 yrs & stole the joy outta my heart for dance. At age 25 this year. I saw a tik tok video of Jeffery dancing. I was immediately moved by his love/passion for dance that I had to join up! 
Jefferys classes have helped me to be more confident as a dancer and as a person, resparked my love for dance by always encouraging us and believing in us.

I found dancing is so relaxing and I enjoy dancing a lot, it still helps me reduce all my stress while chilling under the music. Jeffrey Hu is a really good teacher, he gives us new knowledge about dance and always encourages us to keep growing and improving. In fact, I did grow a lot compared to when I first started dancing and first joining his classes.

I love my dance so much, no words can describe how much I love and appreciate it!!!

I have been attending dance classes at Movement Nation for about 6 months.  From the time that I commenced classes, I have found new energy and appreciation for dance and movement generally. I find Jefferey takes time to know all of his students personally, he embraces all levels of dance experience and students from all walks of life.  Jefferey ensures that he makes everybody enjoy dance and teaches his students to appreciate dance as a lifestyle embodiment focusing on the mind as strength and openness to enjoying dance as a means of improving the mind and body.
